Chinese Shipping Giant Confirms Contracts for Nine New Vessels

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding new contracts add up to a total of US$ 226 million in value, taking the company’s year to date order value to US$ 1.26 billion.

Jiangsu based Chinese shipping conglomerate; Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has signed agreements for a total of nine new vessels.

These include:

  • Four 2,400 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containerships
  • Two 59,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) dry bulkers
  • Two 1,800 TEU containerships
  • One 2,700 TEU containership

Customers for these orders include Shanghai Baosteel Shipping for the two 59,000 DWT dry bulkers and SITC International Holdings for the two 1,800 TEU containerships.

Delivery schedules for these ships are late 2021 for the 2,700 TEU containership; and 2022 for the rest.

As a company, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding currently stands at the 406th position among the top 500 companies of China. Alongside, it is globally ranked among the top 10 shipbuilding companies in the world.
