Oil tanker and bulk carrier collide off the Philippines.

The Japanese-owned 49,999 dwt oil tanker, Rich Rainbow, has collided with Ivy Shipping-owned 55,900 dwt dry bulker, Ivy Alliance, three nautical miles of Cavite City, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Thursday.

The Thai-flagged Rich Rainbow was loaded with gasoline and the Marshall Islands-flagged Ivy Alliance was carrying coal.

According to PCG spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo, the PCG responded to a distress call at 2150 hrs local time on Wednesday.

No crew were injured in the collision and there has been no oil or fuel spill reported. The 2021-built Rich Rainbow sustained extensive damage to her topsides, but has not taken on water and is awaiting inspection by ship managers.
