Pending a US court approval INMARSAT will buy Maritime Service Contracts of Speedcast including Fleet One and Fleet Xpress.

An agreement on the sale of multiple maritime service contracts currently held by Speedcast to INMARSAT has been reached, according to satnews.
These service contracts include the following:
- Fleet One
- FleetBroadband, and
- Fleet Xpress
In essence, besides the entire Fleet Xpress portfolio of INMARSAT, the L-Band maritime contracts held by Speedcast are also part of this agreement.
Presently the agreement is subject to US courts approval. Readers might recall Speedcast filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy; the company’s financial rearrangement is currently being administered.
Once approved, the agreement will pave the way for Speedcast customers onboarded onto INMARSAT to avail the latter’s services for connectivity.
Meanwhile, delivery of managed services offered by Speedcast to its present maritime clients continues unabated. This is not only true for it’s key VSAT clients but also all others that avail mobile satellite services or MSS from operators other than INMARSAT.
As the agreement attains fruition, INMARSAT will be responsible for managing the maritime contracts that transition, while also offering round the clock customer support and services to clients.
